Sweetie - thank you for this today. We all juggle too much, mostly because we think we need to, but your challenge to look deeper is really important. I know I struggle with my own inadequecies, which in turn make me take on things I should say no to. Kind of a vicious cycle....doing too much makes me do less of the things that are truly important and that in turn makes me feel more inadequate! GAH! You are right that it is going to be lifetime quest - no easy changes, but it's nice to know that I'm in it with great people like you!!

Dear Martina,
I so agree with your assessment that often the roles of who is teaching and learning and the purpose of those roles is an integral part of when to fish, cut bait or trot the line a bit longer.
hugs

Well said, Sweetie.

Enough is the internal peace that gets me through every situation. Enough is playing and inventig the best patty-cake I can do to the delighted squals of my granddaughter. Enough is when a patient hugs me goodbye sadly because our journey together is over. Enough is watching my children grow into fully functional adults. Helpoing a friend through a rough patch.

Enough is what I already possess.

Excellent points, Sweetie.

I can relate to the issue with dircetions, but I accept that I am "directionally-challenged" and work around this. I write directions from others in a way that I can understand them, have a gps, and may even print out mapquest. I also have an atlas in the car, because you are right, you and the bear both get annoyed after a while.

The issues of teaching and learning that you bring up are important. Most of us can see it as parent and teachers when we are being manipulated, and our children just are not trying. It seems less clear as we begin to work with adults. The time comes when we must stop and ask yourself, "Who is being trained by this exercise? Them or me?"

If it becomes obvious that people are not willing to try to learn something or do things differently, then eventually, as much as we may love and care for them, we have to cut bait, move on to the next bear and get on with our own lives.

Good post.

Dear Kate,
Thanks for the kind words. So much of what we deal with as leaders and followers is a lack of intentional effort. I know as a leader, I am to be so much more than a "pleaser" and yes, the responsibility is sometimes more important than my vanity or desire to be "liked" :)
hugs

I just love this, Sweetie. Responsibility really does lie with both the teacher and the learner when something is to be learned. So often, there is a breakdown simply because mindsets are off; attitudes or preconceived notions about the people involved hinder the experience. This is fantastic. Every leader at every level should be educated on this aspect of leadership and relationships.
Awesome post!
