It’s almost New Year’s. A time for reflection and perhaps even for planning. Are you looking forward to a better something in 2017? More time? More money? More laughter? What is holding you back?
The answers might surprise you.
As I work with well able professionals, the “big three” as I like to call them, are concepts that show up over and over again. The first is boredom. How do you handle boredom? As I help entrepreneurs dissect what is not effective in their business and align strategic actions, there is a re-occuring theme of when well-able folks are bored, their business suffers.
How do you handle boredom?
What do you do when you are bored?
What suffers in your business when your needs are not met?
Many of the actions that make or break success are not sexy. They require consistency. That may immediately bring to mind a treadmill or no frills, no nonsense disciplinarian. Usually a visual that simply isn’t fun.
What if the picture you dredged up isn’t real? What if the action you are not consistently engaging is more akin to a lack of discipline in the habit of creating fun, joy, self care, rest, or adventure?
We are more likely to be productive when our basic needs are met. When our scheduled expectations include time for fun, laughter, work, community, and fueling our lives.
What has boredom cost you this year ? How can focus your week so that your needs AND your business needs are both met? It may be that in your “discipline” to be stalwart in “getting things done” you’ve ignored the very thing that fuels your success?
What if you regularly infused time in your daily life for you? You without guilt? You with focus on your daily self care? You with limits on just how much time your business and the chores of existence get with focus on “me time” for at least an hour a day?
It’s my experience that when boredom is alleviated through focused daily fun, self care, and planning….productivity multiplies in every area of my business…and that of my clients.
